  • Welcome To The World Of Wagner

Today marks the launch of my newest web site: www.WorldOfWagner.com. I created this site to showcase my latest work -- an adventure I call The Mirror Project, which is a collection of photographs of objects and reflections taken at various outdoor locations in New York City. I know this is a departure from wedding photography, but it's fun to try new things, and spread one's wings as they say. Plus, I believe this makes me a better photographer and improves all aspects of my work.

I currently maintain five web sites -- this blog, danwagner.com, danwagnerphotography.com, liweddingphotography.com (which has resources for brides -- reception halls, limo companies, and photography locations), and WorldOfWagner.com. I hope you visit my newest site. Thank you.

  • Jennifer & Nathan Wed On Lucky 08-08-08

The Chinese believe that the number eight is lucky, and based upon my experiences photographing Jennifer and Nathan's wedding yesterday, I wholeheartedly agree. Wow, what a day! The weather was beautiful, with the exception of a thundershower that began after the wedding party left the second outdoor photo location, and ended shortly after the limo brought them to The Meadow Club -- perfect timing.

I have so many favorite photos from the day, that it's going to be really hard to choose which ones to share on this blog.

Dava, Jackie, Dana, Jen, Lauren, & Lisa

    Arrival at the church.

Nate and his brother Adam seconds after Jen and her Dad began walking down the aisle.

Everyone laughed when Nate accidentally blew out one of the candles.

    Too cute!

Even the local lifeguards joined in the fun.

Just look at this sky -- Incredible.

    The Bridal Party, plus two.

Jackie and Dava frolicking in the surf.

If you try to sneak a kiss, I'll catch it.

Here's a unique photo I shot through the heart-shaped ice sculpture during cocktail hour.

    Nate's quite the romantic...

...and an obvious fan of the movie, Spiderman.

Even Adam, the best man, got a dip, and a smooch.
Everyone who heard Adam's toast will appreciate this photo.

You know the groom needs a break from photography when he seeks refuge under his bride's gown.

  • Marilyn & David Got Married Today

Whew! What a day. We started in Queens, N.Y., and ended in Roslyn, N.Y. at the George Washington Manor. Everyone had a fantastic time, great ceremony, wonderful food, and lots of dancing.

I always provide a huge selection of the kind of photos couples expect to see. But, in addition to these photos I also take quite a few unexpected, creative, fun, unique, and offbeat images such as these:

This photo was shot through an old-fashioned tv rabbit ear antennae.

    Here's a bird's eye view of Marilyn getting made-up.

I used a fisheye lens to photograph the fishtank!

The composition of this photo was improved because David was leaning to his right.

I love the way Marilyn's hands look in this photo.

    Marilyn's Mom before being introduced.

George Washington Manor is known for great food and service.

  • Married on 6/14, Album designed by 7/17!

Above is the album I designed for Julia and Carlos. I photographed their wedding this past June 14th. Each double-page will be 15-inches high by 20-inches wide. I ordered the prints a few days ago. The next step is to proof/check the prints, fill out an instruction sheet for the album binder, and send everything to the binder for assembly. The completed album should ship within eight weeks -- that's how we roll at DWP, you know how we do.

Here's what Julia had to say (7/13/2008) when I sent her the Internet link to her album so she could preview the design and request changes:

"Hi Dan, We love it!!! We made a few comments to just make some pictures a little larger, but other than that we love the layout and design. Can't wait to see the finished product!!!"

  • Ayse & Alex 300 Day Wedding Celebrations

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of photographing Ayse and Alex's second wedding at The Swan Club in Glen Cove, New York. Their first wedding was 300-days ago in Ayse's home country of Turkey. Ayse and Alex were so much fun, that I wish I could've photographed the Turkish wedding too. Here are few photos that caught my eye during editing.

Alex and I had fun goofing around while Ayse was putting on her gown.

The silver tassels attached to the bouquet is a Turkish tradition.

This photo is almost too perfect, and reminds me of a painting.

Ayse and Alex look great together!

Ayse was clearly touched by Alex's vows.

... and they danced the night away.

  • Dan Wagner's Photo Lab

I frequently receive the following questions from couples and fellow photographers regarding my photo lab.

Q: Which lab do I use?
    A: Alkit Photo
    Q: Where are they located:
    A: 27 St. John's Place, Freeport NY 11520
    1-800-285-1698
Q: Do they serve retail customers as well as wholesale to photographers?
    A: Yes.

I've been using Alkit for several years, and I'm very happy with their customer service, and print quality. Generally, I create all my orders through the Internet by ftp-ing files, and through Labprints software (interfaces with Alkit) which allows me to create on-line galleries, design albums, and more.

Wedding photographers have many suppliers helping them deliver the high-quality products couples have come to expect. To produce an album I start with Laprints, order prints from Alkit, and then send the prints and order forms to the album binder. A large percentage of the fees charged for photography go towards providing these items and services.

This is the Next Press (cost over 1/2 million!)

This is the Frontier Printer area. Each printer can
make over 2,000 prints per/hour. Nearby, skilled
operators adjust color, density, and more.

Alkit also provides offset printing services.

Even the packing supplies area is impressive.

These photos are just a small sampling of Alkit's facility, which is probably way over 50,000 sq feet. So even though I run a small personalized photo studio, there are quite a few businesses, and skilled people helping me -- sort of like the Verizon commercials where you see hundreds of Verizon employees standing behind the customer.

Shout out to Steven, David, and Nadim -- you guys rock!
