  • Debra and James' 12x12 Wedding Album

Well, this has been a very productive week. Saturday, I photographed Susan and John's wedding. That night Debra and James e-mailed me their album photo selections. Sunday I edited, uploaded, and burned photos from Saturday. Monday, I retouched photos for Debra's album, and by 1am Tuesday I e-mailed the Internet link for her completed album design. I think I'll spend the rest of today building a pyramid or something.

  • Susan and Johnny's Fab Wedding.

Yesterday Susan and Johnny celebrated their wedding at Long Island's famous Jericho Terrace. Here's a brief photo selection:

    Everybody helped Susan get ready.

Check out Susan's brother "inside" one of the bubbles. Cool.

Susan, Johnny, and Charlie loved riding the trolley.

Jericho Terrace has a nice variety of photo spots.

Susan, Johnny, and the wedding party on the balcony adjoining the Dome Room.

The Dome Room prior to the guests arrival.

Susan went "tribal" and turned one of the serving platters into a communal drum. The expression on Sal the maitre'd's face was priceless, and the performance so inspired I couldn't resist contributing a dollar. LOL!

    Johnny kept everyone entertained.

  • Liz and Thomas' Long Island City Engagement Shoot

The weather was beautiful today, and the lighting contrasty, which made for some dramatic shots. When shooting at the Gantries in LIC watch out for the pesky park rangers. If they think you're going to use the photos for something other than a family snapshot, or if your camera is too fancy, or if they're having a bad hair day, then they will ask you to stop taking photos. And if you try to move to another spot, they will follow you around like a wacko stalker. You'd think they'd have something better to do, like making sure Yogi Bear wasn't stealing picnic baskets. Unreal. Despite the rangers, we managed to get a nice variety of shots. Hey, this is my hometown, I'm not going to let some slacker in a green tee shirt tell my bride and grooms what to do. Yeah!

When shooting into the sun, make sure you're close enough to permit flash fill.

Thomas and Liz had a lot of fun tickling each other.

Thomas is pretty tall, so we had a little fun making him shorter.

  • Weddings, Weddings, Weddings x 3

Caitlin and Kristofer tied the knot at The Old Field Club in Setauket, New York on Saturday, August 29th. That was the weekend of Tropical Storm Danny -- yeah I know, same name as me. Luckily the weather cleared up in time for an outdoor ceremony. The couple placed an 8x10 frame with different photos and text detailing how they met, their favorite places, and how they selected The Old Field Club for their wedding. As you can see the accent color was pink, and Caitlin and Kristofer both sported pink on their feet. Even their dog wore pink.

By the way, apologies to all for being a week or so behind on my blogging chores. The end of August and beginning of September have been super-busy. Besides photographing quite a few weddings, I repainted, reorganized, and re-equipped my NYC photography studio, as well as drove my daughter to school in North Carolina, purchased and set-up a new iMac, and iPhone (finally I'll be able to tell prospective brides if I have their date available while away from my desktop computer calendar), and updated part of my danwagner.com web site. Whew! I also revamped my on-line "social-networking" sites. I've read that in these modern times it's important to maintain one's Internet footprint -- I'll blame Al Gore for that :) . Feel free to view the preliminary results of my efforts on Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. Please tweet me your thoughts on my latest blog entries. Thank you. Dan

Emily and Roger were married Thursday, August 27th, 2009 at Lombardi's on The Sound aka Port Jeff Country Club, in Port Jefferson, New York. As you can tell by the photos, the weather was splendid. We started at 4pm on the nearby beach, and spent almost an hour creating beautiful photos. The band, food, scenery, mood, everything was amazing.

Last, but not least was Danielle and Abe's wedding at the famous Fox Hollow in Woodbury, New York. This place runs like clockwork. Even though they can have three weddings going on simultaneously, the brides will never see each other. It's so 007 :) . The staff are incredible, and do everything imaginable to help photographers get the shots the couples love. As Danielle and Abe's guests departed they were given a bag of bagels, and complimentary copies of Newsday graced with one of the engagement shots I took for Danielle and Abe's engagement photo session on the cover.
