I always love it when couples whose wedding I've photographed have babies. Here are a few photos I took today at my New York City photo studio of Yvonne, Jason, and their 4-month old baby, Parker. He's so cute!

Whew, I'm exhausted! I'm also psyched at how great the photos from Maria & Jason's wedding look. Here's a quick selection. There are always so many photos that it's really hard to make a choice.

This past Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Pam & Paul's wedding at The Harbor Club in Huntington, New York. It was a great wedding. The food at The Harbor Club is above average. Shout out to Jason the maitre'd, who ran things perfectly. Pam and Paul's family and friends all had a wonderful time.
I'm not sure what the significance of this photo is, and I'm not sure how it came about.
However, I'm happy to report there was a lot of laughter, and no injuries.

Tara and Aram had a wonderful wedding. The day began at beautiful St Vartan's Church in NYC, followed by sunset photos at Battery Park, and ended with a fantastic reception at Bridgewaters in Southstreet Seaport. Look for Tara & Aram's wedding announcement in this Sunday's New York Post Newspaper.

From October 2nd to Election Day, November 4th 2008 I worked on a self-assigned series of photographs I call The Obama Project. The photo above was taken at the lake in Central Park, New York. Logistically, it was the hardest photo of the series.
The letters are all three feet tall, and made of 1/8th inch white translucent acrylic. The whole series can be seen by CLICKING HERE.
I decided to post this NWR (not wedding related) blog entry in honor of today being Inauguration Day. Whether Democrat or Republican, we all want the best for our planet. Here's to hope for 2009 and beyond.
It's always fun to experiment and try something new. When Debra e-mailed me to suggest photographing their engagement shoot at Stonybrook Village so we could take advantage of the seasonal Christmas lights, I said to myself, "Why not?"

Debra & James were very brave to endure the cold temperature. This was 3 parts workout, and 1 part photo shoot. After tonight, I'm positive they're looking forward to their warm August wedding. It was so dark, that it was difficult to see expressions, and know the best moment to trip the shutter. We'll shoot the real (not experimental) engagement shoot in the Spring.
Tres Mod! Debra's coat and The Avengers were the inspiration for this pose. We even managed to get the streak of red from a passing car's tail lights.
Debra & James look great together!

"Hi Dan!!!
We're so glad you photographed our wedding - we LOVE our pictures
Happy Holidays to you and your family! We're expecting a baby boy 3 days after our 1 year anniversary - we don't waste any time!
Cheers,
Cindy and Mike"
Fantastic! This really made my day. The photograph above was taken at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. While there I spotted a lady creating a scenic painting. She kindly agreed to allow me to include her in one of my photos of Cindy and Mike. With the aid of a little Photoshop magic I inserted a watercolor version of one of my photos on the artist's canvas. Speaking of magic, I think my camera might be a fertility charm based on the fact that quite a few couples have recently either had babies, or are expecting them. Hey, I'm happy to help.
This photo will occupy a full-page in the "With A Little Help From My Friends" chapter for the next edition of Rick Sammon's Digital Photography Secrets, which comes out in Spring 2009, with a first run of 50,000 books. Of course I'll post a photo of the book, and a link, as soon as I receive my complimentary copy.
As if all this isn't exciting enough, I will also be priviledged to write a few paragraphs describing how and why this photograph was created. Not to spill-the-beans, but my inspiration for the photo was Life Magazine Photographer Gijon Mili's (1904-1984) incredible portrait of Picasso drawing one of his well-known minotaurs with a flashlight.
Rick found my "heart" photo on my vendor page for liweddings.com. During my conversation with Rick, I inquired, "Rick, out of all the photos on liweddings, how did you ever find, and wind up selecting mine?" Rick replied, "I'm very thorough, and I was just looking for something interesting." Well, okay, I guess it must be kismet (fate, destiny).
By the way, what really amazes me regarding Gjon Mili's photograph, is that Picasso had to draw the minotaur backwards -- think about it. Now, that's talent. Well, the world really is filled with miracles. Happy Holidays!
