This morning, as I was selecting photos for this blog, my wife walked by, and started raving about how much she loves this photo of the flower girl from Alyson and Bruce's Fox Hollow Wedding. I love it too. Could she possibly look more precious? What you can't see in the photo for the web is the heart shaped pendant hanging from her neck that reads, "Flower Girl." Kudos to Alyson for making even the tiny details wonderful. Anyway, my wife went on to strongly suggest I enter this photo in the 2008 PDN Top Knots New School of Wedding Photography Contest. The contest deadline was just extended to 12-19-2008, so I'll probably submit another entry.

And now for the best part of today's blog. Yesterday I received the following e-mail from Alyson: "We just had a baby 3 weeks ago!!  Aiden Louis Henry. We may need some professional pics of him!"

Well, it's that time of year again -- Contest Time -- a time when dreams of sugar plums (winning photos) dance through my head... Last year I had a winning entry in PDN (Photo District News) Top Knots, New School in Wedding Photography Contest. I figured, hey, why not try for a second win?

Here are a few of my entries for 2009. Each photo has to be from a 2008 wedding, and the deadline is 12/15/2008. Winners will be notified at the end of January 2009. I hope the following selection will appeal to the judges. Wish me luck.

This afternoon  I spent a few hours photographing Maria & Jason for their
engagement photos. The fall colors at Avalon Park in Stony Brook, New
York were really beautiful. Maria & Jason are a fun couple, and
some of my favorite photos are when they made each other laugh.

Tanya and Brent tied the knot in Syosset, Long Island this past
Saturday. The reception was at the Knickerbocker Yacht Club in Port
Washington. Luckily, the rain held off until after the cocktail hour,
and we were able to take photos outside.

Ian & Sarah with the Jefferson Memorial in the background.

This past Saturday I was in Washington, DC shooting a self-assigned art project. The weather was amazing, and I was able to complete all the photos I had planned. While on my way to shoot the Jefferson Memorial, a cute couple asked me to take their photo. Turns out they were engaged ten-minutes earlier. Either they're able to read minds, or I must have the words "Wedding Photographer" written on my forehead. Talk about perfect timing. Thank you, Sarah and Ian, you really made my day.
